In the footsteps of Cartier, Du Gua de Monts, Champlain and Cavelier de La Salle…… We have come to Canada on our sailing boat to discover the French-speaking heritage which has come down to us today.

The spirit of adventure which is "Acadiaventure".

Our aim is to:

Reach out to the French-speaking world in North America, part of whose heritage is based on the history of New France and which is so rich in cultural diversity. All along our route we will be meeting people who speak French or who have a love of the French language, with the object of sharing our different cultures by .

In the schools
[back]

The voyage of discovery "Acadiaventure" will be the framework for a project for schools, centred on the history and geography of the areas covered by its itinerary, including contacts with other school pupils through the website. Local school children will be invited on board the boat at the various ports of call to chat about the project.

Historic links

In a spirit of discovery we will be navigating historic waterways and acting as messengers for "New France", exchanging news and views at every port of call and every colonial or missionary settlement - our sailing boat being perhaps just a large canoe, as in the olden days.

Introducing ourselves

[back]

Having built our boat and set off from France for a three-year voyage to Brazil and Canada, we finished our epic journey at St Pierre & Miquelon in 1995.

It was an unforgettable summer, travelling between Montreal and the Madeleine Islands, and we received such a fantastic welcome that we just had to come back to do the "Acadiaventure" project.
